Toni Kroos on Germany reaching the quarter-finals: “I believe that we have achieved a certain minimum goal”

Speaking during his press conference (via @iMiaSanMia) Toni Kroos has given his thoughts on Germany reaching thr quarter-finals of EURO 2024.

On getting this far in the tournament, Kroos said:

“I believe that we have achieved a certain minimum goal. I don’t think you can look back and say it was a catastrophe. Of course, we as a team set ourselves the goal of winning the tournament. Our motivation in the dressing room is to go much further. We are convinced that we can do it”

Germany play Spain in Stuttgart on Friday in the first quarter-final after they beat Denmark in the Round of 16 2-0 thanks to a penalty from Kai Havertz and a strike from Jamal Musiala.

Against Spain, Germany will face the current favourites of the tournament. The winners in 2008 and 2012 have a 100% record and have looked convincing in every one of their games.

Kroos is also familiar with some of the Spain squad due to his time with Real Madrid. Some have even said they want this to be the final game of his career. On the comments made by Joselu, Kroos said:

“It’s normal, they want to win the tournament. I will do everything I can to prevent that from happening. They are here to win, we are here to win. We will see what happens on Friday. I know him so I know how he meant it. The most important thing is that they did not want me to stop in Madrid. They are my friends.”

The winner of this quarter-final sets up a game against the winner of Portugal or France in Munich in the semi-final.
