Germany Cup could get a new venue
The German Ice Hockey Cup could have a new venue next year. Peter Merten, President of the German Ice Hockey Federation, confirmed on the sidelines of this year’s edition in Landshut that there are several applicants for the 2025 tournament. In addition to the current host, Dresden is also hopeful. “A decision has not yet been made,” said Merten.
One of the difficulties of hosting the tournament is that four women’s and men’s teams have to be accommodated in the same stadium. “Landshut has a top level,” said Merten. The Deutschland Cup was already held in the ice hockey stronghold in Bavaria in 2023.
The DEB President announced that there will be a test run with the Deutschland Cup in the Rhine metropolis before the 2027 home World Championship, which will be held in Düsseldorf and Mannheim. This is expected to happen in the fall of 2026.
