Logistics Schmitt loads at Milence at the Hermsdorf Junction

Shuttle Service between Mannheim and Leipzig

On behalf of Daimler Buses, Logistik Schmitt currently operates two Mercedes-Benz long-haul trucks with conventional diesel engines on the approximately 480 km route between the Daimler Buses site in Mannheim and a supplier near Leipzig in a shuttle service. After the delivery of the new eActros 600 vehicles next year, the routes will be managed entirely electrically in the future.

Rainer Schmitt, managing partner of Logistik Schmitt, explains: “Due to the charging points available at the Daimler Buses Mannheim plant, the eActros 600 can reach its destination near Leipzig without interim charging. The Milence charging park at the Hermsdorfer Kreuz comes just at the right time for us to supply the trucks with enough new energy for the journey back to southern Germany after successful loading and unloading.”

Prototype in Use

Until the delivery of the production vehicles in the new year, Logistik Schmitt aims to gather initial experiences with a prototype of the eActros 600 on the route in the coming weeks, which has already been in practical use with the logistics service provider for some time.

For the charging process, four CCS charging stations with up to 400 kW output are available at the new Milence location at the Hermsdorf Cross, which can now be used by truck fleet operators like Logistik Schmitt regardless of brand. The offer is complemented by amenities such as sanitary facilities.

As part of the official opening of the first charging park in Germany, Milence has also put another location into operation with two additional CCS charging stations, not far from the Hermsdorf Cross, on the A9 in Vockerode, Saxony-Anhalt.
